Micro Focus Access Manager offers federated access management and single sign-on (SSO) capabilities. Other key features include authentication, authorization, step-up and multi-factor authentication, risk-based/adaptive access control, remote access, web proxy/gateway, social access, consumer access management, mobile access, usage and risk analytics, self-service management (including registration), and password and profile management.

Major improvements in the last year include access management available as a cloud-based service, API and services integration, and security additions including API gateway, advanced risk analytics, additional second-factor authentication methods, enhanced consumer access management, and the addition of a large catalog of built-in software as a service (SaaS) federation connectors with provisioning support.

Markets and Use Cases

The largest installed base is in large- to medium-size enterprises for employee and B2B access management. It also has large business-to-consumer and business-to-government implementations.

Intelligence

Micro Focus Access Manager offers an analytics engine that provides insights into what's happening in the system, including who the users are, where they are logging from, their devices, risk profile, and more. It also provides context-aware drill-down capabilities to identify a potential risk. The solution integrates with Micro Focus Sentinel and Micro Focus ArcSight (SIEM and Analytics solutions), as well as Micro Focus Vertica for big data analytics.

Micro Focus Access Manager can be delivered as SaaS, on-premises, appliance or software. The solution runs in public cloud infrastructures as well. It is a standalone SSO solution but is also available as part of the Micro Focus Identity, Access Management and Security suite of products.

Pricing

The Micro Focus Access Management solution is sold primarily on a "per managed identity" basis (per user). In some use cases, a per instance model is used. A base license is required to purchase products within the Access and Identity Governance Solution grouping, and then the customer purchases the appropriate add-on line items for the function they need. Licenses are available in the following delivery methods: 1) perpetual license with annual maintenance/support fees, 2) standard annual subscription, 3) monthly subscriptions for MSPs only, and 4) as-a-service charged on a monthly or annual subscription basis.
