Bottom Line

Oracle offers Oracle Access Management as software or Oracle Identity Cloud Service for SaaS. Both offerings are more suited to large enterprises than SMEs.

Product Description

Oracle provides a choice of deployment options for implementing single sign-on (SSO) through two solutions. Oracle Identity Cloud Service is a cloud-native identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) offering. Oracle Access Management is a traditional software solution that is often deployed on-premises, but some deploy it in cloud environments. Both are designed to work together in hybrid deployment models. They provide authentication, single sign-on, coarse-grained authorization, WebGates, strong authentication, federation, OAuth, mobile and social capabilities.

Markets and Use Cases

Oracle single sign-on solutions are used by some of the largest and most well-known brands across the globe, including financial services, retail, higher education, and government entities.

Security Qualifications

Oracle Access Management and Identity Cloud Service support SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, HOTP, TOTP and several other standards. Oracle Access Management has several certifications, including Fed-RAMP, Common Criteria and FIPS. SaaS solutions have SOC2 and ISO27001 certifications.

Intelligence

Oracle’s SSO solutions leverage artificial intelligence to analyze a unified data set consisting of the full breadth of security and operational telemetry, as well as provide automated remediation. Oracle’s integrated suite is designed to enable customers to quickly adapt their security and operational posture as their risk landscape changes. This application of machine learning can potentially help thwart attacks, reduce the detection window from months to minutes, and more quickly address security breaches and performance outages.

Delivery

Oracle Access Management is delivered as software solution. It is available as a standalone SSO as well as part of various suite offerings from Oracle.

Oracle Identity Cloud Service is a cloud-native, identity-as-a-service solution and is available as a standalone single sign-on solution.

Agents

Webgates/agents are required when applications need to externalize AAA security enforcement and are especially useful in cases of heterogeneous applications. Applications that rely on standard SAML/OAuth/OIDC do not require agents.

Metrics

Oracle Access Management is being used to provide SSO to some of the largest end user-facing applications.

Pricing

Oracle publishes a complex array of pricing options. Prices vary from one-time set up fees to monthly subscriptions.
