Surfshark vs NordVPN: Which VPN Is Actually Better in 2026?

Surfshark and Nord VPN are two big names of VPNs, and choosing between them is harder than it looks. We compared both across security, speed, server coverage, device support, features, as well as price. And here's where the differences actually matter. Let's start with Surfshark. If you want the most value for your money, Surfshark has a pretty strong case. One subscription supports unlimited simultaneous connections. Now, that's a big advantage for families or people that are trying to protect a lot of devices.

You also get privacy features like dynamic multi-hop, rotating IP, and alternative ID. Now, the trade-off? Surfshark does have a smaller server network, and some independent testing out there did find higher latency than Nord VPN. And that brings us to Nord VPN. It has more than 8,000 servers across over 167 countries. Along with specialized options like double VPN and onion over VPN. It also goes beyond basic VPN protection by adding threat protection pro on supported platforms.

Now, Surfshark gives you that unlimited connections, while Nord VPN actually limits you to just 10 simultaneous connections. And Surfshark generally has a lower introductory price. So, the question is, which one should you choose? Go with Nord VPN if larger server coverage and lower latency matter most. And maybe go with Surfshark if price and protecting lots of devices are bigger priorities for you. But there are several other differences that could change your decision, including streaming performance, long-distance speeds, privacy tools that are available, as well as the price of actually renewing the software.
