African Union Commission Hacked by SysBreak-Crew
The hackers didn't provide a reason for the breach.
The official Web site of the African Union Commission was recently defaced by hackers calling themselves the SysBreak-Crew. No reason was given for the attack.
"The Commission of the African Union acts as the executive/administrative branch or secretariat of the AU (and is somewhat analogous to the European Commission)," writes Cyber News' Aarshit Mittal. "The hackers put up a simple message -- 'sysbreak-crew pwned!'"
"The site appears to be hosted on a Linux server running Apache, located in the United States," writes Softpedia's Eduard Kovacs. "The African Union has managed to quickly restore the website, but the hackers have published a zone-h.org mirror to record their accomplishment. ... Back in December 2012, the same hacker group defaced a website of the Government of the Federal District of Mexico."
