R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management Admits Security Breach

R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management recently began notifying [PDF] several hundred clients that that their personal information may have been exposed when the facility that hosts its Artesys Web site was hit by a cyber attack on July 22, 2013.

When R.T. Jones was informed of the attack on July 26, 2013, the company hired two separate forensic experts to investigate the incident, and reported the attack to the FBI, the Secret Service, and local law enforcement. R.T. Jones also retained specialized data security counsel to guide the company through its response to the incident.

On August 7, 2013, the forensic experts informed the company that an undisclosed number of clients’ names, Social Security numbers, e-mail addresses, account numbers and birthdates may have been exposed.
