NCO Financial Systems recently began notifying an undisclosed number of customers that their personal information may have been exposed when RevSpring, the company's communications vendor, sent an e-mail to loan customers on March 29, 2014 that mistakenly included an attachment containing other customers' loan statements.
The attachment contained the affected customers' names, addresses, Social Security numbers and account numbers.
While there's no indication at this point that the data was misused, all those affected are being offered a free one-year membership in Experian's ProtectMyID Elite identity protection service, and are being advised to consider placing fraud alerts or security freezes on their credit files.
