Establishing Digital Trust: Don't Sacrifice Security for Convenience
The Bangladesh Grey Hat Hackers recently breached Malawi's .mw domain registrars and defaced several Web sites, including nic.mw, registrar.mw, biz.mw, co.mw, com.mw, edu.mw, gov.mw and others (h/t Softpedia).
The defacement pages state, "HackeD By Cr4ck-Br4iN Bangladeshi HackeR! Domain Registry Pwnded!?! root@1337[~] Die America! Die Israel!"
Rather than defacing the sites' index pages, the hackers added an additional defacement page to each site.
The hackers told Softpedia's Eduard Kovacs, "We got a bug on their server. Consider it as warning to increase security. We didn’t deface index of those sites as warning. We request their government to increase security."https://o1.qnsr.com/log/p.gif?;n=203;c=204650394;s=9477;x=7936;f=201801171506010;u=j;z=TIMESTAMP;a=20392931;e=i
As Kovacs notes, the same registrar was also attacked in February of this year.
