Modernizing Authentication — What It Takes to Transform Secure Access
GFI Software yesterday announced that it's spinning off its security technology business unit -- including its VIPRE family of anti-virus products, along with high-end anti-malware solutions SandBox and ThreatTrack -- as ThreatTrack Security Inc., headed by CEO Julian Waits, who was previously the general manager of GFI's security business unit.
"As an independent company, we look forward to strengthening our business and providing ongoing support for our existing customers, while being able to respond and react faster in the ever-changing security market," Waits said in a statement. "This is a great opportunity for our security business, our customers and our partners."
According to GFI Software CEO Walter Scott, the move is being made to enable GFI Software to focus on its core collaboration, IT infrastructure, managed service provider and cloud services. "The strategic separation of our VIPRE, SandBox and ThreatTrack products creates increased bandwidth and flexibility for GFI to focus on our core market and to deliver enterprise-quality IT solutions to small and medium-sized businesses," Scott said.
In a statement from ThreatTrack Security, Waits said advanced persistent threats and other complex malware attacks demand a new approach to malware defense. "ThreatTrack Security was estabalished to help enterprises bolster their cybersecurity readiness right now," he said.
