Establishing Digital Trust: Don't Sacrifice Security for Convenience
The official Web site of Thai prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra was recently hacked and defaced with statements reading, "I'm a slutty moron" and "I know that I am the worst Prime Minister ever in Thailand history!!!" next to a photo of the prime minister (h/t E Hacking News).
The defacement page was signed by the Unified Hack Team, though according to the Bangkok Post, the team stated on its Facebook page that it had nothing to do with the attack.
Suranand Vejjajiva, the prime minister's secretary general, told The New Straits Times, "It might have been done by some teenagers... or maybe it was for political purposes. ... Hacking a Web site is easy... but don't forget that checking who did it is not hard either."
The New Straits Times notes that the attack came days after the prime minister filed a defamation suit against cartoonist Chai Rachawat for posting pictures of her on his Facebook page alongside the statement, "A prostitute is not an evil person, the hooker only sells body. But an evil woman sells the nation."
