Establishing Digital Trust: Don't Sacrifice Security for Convenience
Indian hacker "Godzilla" recently took down several Web sites belonging to the Pakistani government (h/t The Hacker News).
In a Pastebin post, the hacker leaked user names, plain text passwords, database names, and other information. Godzilla reported that there are three admins running all key government Web sites, using "almost a common database" for all sites, and noted that the use of the password "111111" made his job much easier than it otherwise might have been.
In explaining the attack, Godzilla wrote, "Pakistan is a country which is currently supporting terrorist activities through ISI, and if they regret Pakistan army and Ministry of Defense mail server backups are enough to proof how closely the are related to terrorism. Pakistan stop these activities before its too late."
