Establishing Digital Trust: Don't Sacrifice Security for Convenience
RP Online reports that an 18-year-old student from Hamburg, Germany has been arrested for launching a cyber attack on the official Web site for the German state of Saxony-Anhalt (h/t Help Net Security).
The teenager's apartment in Hamburg was searched, and evidence was seized, including copies of data from the site. According to the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) and prosecutors, he has admitted responsibility for the attack.
According to RP Online, an attack in late August made the site inaccessible for several hours, and also made it impossible for offices and ministries to update content for a period of several weeks.
"To his motive, he has not said anything," LKA spokesman Martin Zinc told RP Online.
