Microsoft Revises Security Patch

Software giant Microsoft has released a fix to a problematic security
patch introduced earlier this month. The update comes two days after
the company announced a delay.

The updated MS06-042 security bulletin “fully resolves
the security vulnerability discussed in Microsoft Security Advisory
923762,” according to a statement.

After originally releasing a cumulative security patch Aug. 8 to fix eight flaws discovered in Internet Explorer, the following week Microsoft said it learned the vulnerability could be publicly exploited and was readying a cure.

Although the vulnerability could be exploited, Microsoft said it was
not aware of any active attacks against its customers using the patch.
