Comodo’s proactive security platforms have evolved to such an extent that it can afford to give its cWatch endpoint detection and response (EDR) offering away for free.
“Because of Comodo’s innovation of preventative endpoint security, the need for EDR is reduced drastically,” Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO of Comodo, told eSecurity Planet. “Therefore, charging a Comodo protected customer for EDR is not a viable business model, hence [it’s] free.”
Starting today, businesses can download cWatch EDR without paying a dime. Using a cloud-hosted architecture, cWatch EDR continually monitors systems and their files, instantly unearthing malware and new zero-day attacks. cWatch EDR also offers a process timeline visualization that lends improved visibility into an organization’s endpoint security along with retrospective analysis capabilities that reveals how breaches or attempted attacks occur.
IT security personnel can use cWatch EDR’ advanced search functionality for file hashes and additional malware detection purposes. For added security, expert human analysis supplements cWatch EDR’s automatic detection capabilities, helping unmask stealthier and advanced attacks. Finally cWatch EDR integrates with Comodo’s global threat intelligence network for up-to-the-minute information on emerging malware.
It’s Abdulhayoglu’s hope that by offering cWatch EDR at no cost, businesses will finally wake up to dangers that may be lurking in their endpoints.
“It is important for enterprises who are not protected by Comodo to see how a ‘default allow’ security posture leaves the enterprise vulnerable. Among the many features in Comodo’s Advanced Endpoint Protection (AEP) product is an automated checking and authentication for each executable and process on an endpoint. When the Comodo client software encounters an unrecognized application or process, it is run in a hardened container that prevents potentially dangerous malware to spread and allows workers to remain productive.
