Blue Lance Extends LT Auditor+, Syslog Capabilities to Linux
LT Auditor+ for Novell eDirectory monitors network activity across Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, NetWare and UP-UX operating systems, consolidating audit data into one secure database for easier reporting. Novell eDirectory manages identities and security access for employees, customers and partners. Administrators in mixed computing environments can now monitor a range of security data across systems, including the creation of users and groups and failed logins.
The products filtering technology allows administrators to be notified immediately on the occurrence of a security breach, via real-time alerts including email, pagers and network broadcasts. The new release audits Novell's high-end directory service and ties into the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to produce detailed audit trails.
LT Auditor+ for Syslogs allows customers to audit and monitor security event logs across Linux and Unix servers, network communication devices, firewall appliances and any application capable of generating syslog messages.
The product provides content-based message processing and reporting capabilities to monitor an array of platform, including Linux and Unix in an agent-less manner. The product has real-time alerting features so that exception events can be reported to security administrators.
Both products are priced by annual subscription per server at $499 per server license, including maintenance and upgrades.
"Novell is embracing Linux and its allow partners like ourselves to integrate and provide our tools for Linux platforms," says Tommy Cathey, director of strategic relations for Blue Lance. "It's a natural progression for us. Our customers are looking into doing more with less resource. Linux is by far the easiest to deploy from a cost standpoint."
