Storage Networking , Part 1 eBook: A storage network is any network that's designed to transport block-level storage protocols. But understanding the ins and outs of networked storage takes you deep into several of protocols. This guide covers SANs, Fibre Channels, Disk Arrays, Fabric, and IP Storage.
»Storage Networking 2, Configuration and Planning eBook: Picking up where Part 1 left off, Part 2 of our look at storage networking examines configurations for SAN-attached servers and disk arrays, and also includes a look at the future of IP storage.
»Storage Management Costs in the Enterprise: A Comparison of Mid-Range Array Solutions Whitepaper:
Many factors contribute to the ownership cost for enterprise storage. These include (but are not limited to): physical capacity relative to physical space requirements, performance capacity for data transfer and system reaction time, software maintenance and updates, expandability and flexibility, and much more.
»Storage Is Changing Fast Be Ready or Be Left Behind PDF: The storage landscape is headed for dramatic change, thanks to new technologies like Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), pNFS, object-based storage and SAS that will affect everything from NAS and SANs to disk drives. Get the knowledge you need to make the most of your storage environment, now and in the future.

Citrix Unveils MetaFrame Secure Access Manager
March 21, 2003
By John Desmond
Citrix Systems has launched the MetaFrame Secure Access Manager, building on its Metaframe virtual access infrastructure to add single point of access to applications, data source, documents and Web content.
Version 2.0 of Secure Access Manager, a new release and a renaming of the NFuse Elite tools announced last year, supports SSL/TSL-encrypted secure access over the Internet along with authentication tools. IT administrators can use the product to tailor access of employees according to their role, and users can use the product to securely work using a browser interface from any location, using any device, over any connections.
The release also contains Secure Password Manager, a technology Citrix incorporated into the product from Passlogix, the security software company. MetaFrame Password Manager enables users to enter their username and password once when logging in, and from that point on, the product recognizes an application's request for credentials and enters them automatically.
The MetaFrame Secure Access Manager Starter kit will be available in Q2 for an introductory price of $109 per concurrent user. Regular Citrix pricing varies from $290 to $345 to $400 per concurrent user, based on the degree of system management utilities that customers want to employ. The company has customers with server farms ranging from 200 to 700 servers. The number of engagements for software licenses valued at over $500,000 increased 50% last year, says Russ Naples, VP and general manager with Citrix.
The Citrix products historically are centered on Windows platforms and benefit customers by enabling them to consolidate software applications on fewer servers, giving client machines virtual access. The company does offer its MetaFrame access infrastructure for Sun Solaris, HP-UX 11i and IBM's XIX 5.1 and 5.2. At a recent user conference, 65% of attendees reported that they are using MetaFrame products to deploy Web-based applications.
