The Resilience DX4000 VPN/firewall appliance is intended for applications that require high availability. It houses two integrated hardware modules that can back one another up in the case of failure, such that the appliance continues to operate uninterrupted. A replacement module can then be hot-swapped into the device, again without interruption, and will self-configure.
The DX4000 comes with Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation software pre-installed. Resilience, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., also announced the DX4000 has achieved "Secured by Check Point" certification, indicating the platform passed Check Point's testing to operate its firewall and VPN software.
Resilience's appliance comes standard with a 1.4GHz Pentium III CPU, with an optional dual CPU, and runs a hardened and optimized version of Linux. The device has a capacity of more than 1.5G bps of firewall throughput. Four 10/100 Ethernet ports are included, along with three slots that can be used for Gigabit Ethernet or additional 10/100 ports. The DX4000 also has two internal slots that can be used for options such as a cryptographic accelerator, to enhance VPN performance.
A graphical user interface enables users to configure the device in just a few minutes, according to Resilience.
The Resilience DX4000 is available now. Pricing starts at $18,495.
