Check Point Unveils Pair Of Management Tools
Check Point Software Technologies this week announced two new management tools, one for trend analysis reporting and the other for monitoring performance-related activities of security tools. The tools, SmartView Reporter and SmartView Monitor, are additions to Check Point's Security Management Architecture (SMART) family of security management products.
SmartView Reporter enables users to create reports from vast quantities of security data collected from Check Point VPN and firewall products as well as from products that comply with Check Point's Open Platform for Security (OPSEC) architecture, says Sweta Duseja, product marketing manager at Check Point. Reporter is intended to make it easier to conduct historical analysis, identifying trends that develop over months, for example. The product comes with 250 pre-defined graphs and tables but also allows customizable reports. User can generate Web-based reports and easily distribute them.
SmartView Monitor provides a real-time view into performance characteristics for Check Point and OPSEC-compliant security products, Duseja says. Users can see the number of VPN tunnels and sessions open, for example, and throughput and latency on VPN links. The tool also allows users to see how much bandwidth individual applications are consuming at any given time, as well as monitor resource consumption, such as CPU utilization on various security devices and gateways. In all, it supports more than 200 performance metrics.
Both products are available now. SmartView Reporter is priced from $2,000. SmartView Monitor is included with Check Point SmartCenter Pro, available with VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation Feature Pack 3.
