Veritect Offers Security Services for Mid-tier Enterprises
Veritect, Inc. this week announced four security services targeted primarily at mid-tier companies that don't have large budgets for security staff and infrastructure. Each of the Vertiect Perimeter Security Systems offerings includes a monthly security assessment scan, penetration test and advice on remediation. The services are priced from $2,900 per month. "Not everybody has a million dollars to spend on security," says Nick Brigman, senior director of product development for Veritect, a Reston, Va.-based subsidiary of the government IT services provider Veridian.
With each service, the idea is to establish a security baseline, continually monitor for changes that affect security, and provide feedback to customers to help them understand their security position, says Scott Miller, vice president of marketing for Veritect.
The $2,900 per month Basic level service includes a monthly security scan to identify issues and risks, a penetration test to simulate an attack, a quarterly review to analyze risks and on-site remediation consultation. Remediation can cover essentially anything the customer wants, from help with applying patches to training, Brigman says.
The next level up, the Plus offering, adds a managed firewall and is priced from $5,400 per month while the Advanced level also includes an intrusion detection service, starting at $8,900 per month. The top-tier service, Veritect Perimeter Security System On-Site, includes all of the above along with one Veritect security professional stationed at the customer site full-time. It is priced from $25,900 per month.
Veritect reports security activity via its Security Dashboard, a simplified interface that gives users a single window into results from security scans, firewalls, IDS and penetration tests.
Behind the Dashboard is Veritect Vigilance, an operational support system that aggregates security data from various sources and correlates it to find trouble spots, whether they be attacks that develop over a period of months or blatant assaults, Brigman says.
Veritect will sell the services direct and through channel partners that include Qwest and Veritect's parent company, Veridian. Additional vertical market-specific partners will be announced in coming weeks, Miller says.
