The Washington Free Beacon Hacked, Serves Malware
An article that had been linked to by the Drudge Report was targeting readers with a Java-based exploit kit.
Security firm Invincea recently found that an article on the conservative Web site the Washington Free Beacon, which had been linked to by the Drudge Report, was targeting site visitors with a Java-based exploit kit (h/t TechNewsDaily).
According to Invincea, several other pages, including the main index page for the Free Beacon, were also compromised, and the exploits aren't currently being detected by any leading anti-virus solutions.
TechNewsDaily's Paul Wagenseil notes that the Drudge Report received more than 2 million unique visitors yesterday alone, though similar stats aren't available for the Free Beacon.
Invincea reports that the issue has been addressed, and the Free Beacon's site is now safe to visit.
