Sutter Health Sued Over Massive Security Breach
The lawsuit contends that the health care system was negligent in its security, and took too long to notify victims of the breach.
The Sacramento Bee reports that a class action lawsuit has been filed against Sutter Health, following a data breach that exposed personal data on 4.2 million patients.
"The suit, filed Monday in Sacramento Superior Court, contends that the company was negligent in securing its computer systems and in notifying victims about the incident," writes SC Magazine's Dan Kaplan. "The computer was stolen Oct. 17, but impacted patients weren't alerted until about a month later."
"The Bee report, citing a Sutter spokesman, said the company wouldn't comment on the lawsuit but that it needed time to investigate the incident before notifying those affected," Kaplan writes.
