The need for compliance with security and regulatory requirements is often a complex task. It's a space where security startup Evident.io is aiming to help meet market demand, thanks to a new infusion of cash today.
Evident.io announced a new $22 million Series C round of funding on Feb. 9, bringing total funding to date for the company up to $49 million. The new round of funding was led by GV (formerly known as Google Ventures) and included the participation of Venrock, Bain Capital and True Venture.
The new funding will be used to help expand the Evident Security Platform (ESP) to support more platform.s Evident has largely been focused on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and will now look to provide broader support for Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
"Our product vision is to be the one cloud security platform to protect every asset in every major public cloud, and the support from GV to grow our company talent enables us to realize that goal faster," Justin Lundy, CTO and cofounder, Evident.io, said in a statement.
The Evident Security Platform is positioned by the company as a continuous security and continuous compliance technology for the public cloud. The platform offers the promise of being able to assess risk across all the various AWS services, providing a unified dashboard view of activity. On the compliance side, the platform monitors activities for potential configuration 'drift', that is items that due to a misconfiguration or policy change, fall out of compliance with established corporate requirements.
In November 2016, the Evident Security Platform was enhanced with new risk user attribution capabilities, enabling organizations to pinpoint trouble spots. The company also expanded its compliance views scope providing companies with visibility into NIST 800-53, PCI-DSS 3.2, SOC-2 and HIPAA compliance.
"Evident.io's platform has proven to aid in the rapid remediation of security vulnerabilities, allowing developers and operations staff to train on best practices and identify potential insider threats," Tyson Clark, Partner at GV stated. "Evident.io offers a compelling security compliance solution designed to scale, expand and operate across multiple public cloud environments."
