The City of Edinburgh Council was recently targeted by hackers.

"According to a report by STV, hackers launched an attack on the council's computer records that contained details of Edinburgh residents seeking debt advice," writes SC Magazine's Dan Raywood.

"According to datalossdb, a total of 8,745 records were accessed, although the council said that there is no evidence to suggest that personal details have been used; the council has written to affected customers to apologise," Raywood writes.
