NetRegistry was recently hit by a major DDoS attack that left many customers unable to access their Web sites or virtual private servers for one or more days.

"Infosecurity notes that reports are mixed, with different users reporting different problems, but many customers were unable to access their sites or servers over most of Monday of this week, with some problems continuing," Infosecurity reports.

"NetRegistry says its engineers have confirmed a DDoS attack has been in progress, with multiple connections swamping a server and eventually taking it offline," the article states. "Although most clients had some access restored by 5pm Monday AEST, users on the Telstra network were still experiencing problems, and an ETA on their services being restored is still not available."
