Nearly All Mobile Malware Targets Android OS
The amount of malware aimed at Android devices increased by 37 percent from the second quarter to the third quarter of this year.
According to McAfee Labs, almost all mobile malware in the third quarter of 2011 was aimed at the Android mobile operating system.
"The amount of malware targeted at Android devices jumped nearly 37 percent since last quarter, McAfee Labs’ third quarter threats report found," Infosecurity reports.
"At the end of 2010, McAfee Labs predicted that malware would reach 70 million unique samples by the end of 2011," the article states. "Because of the proliferation of malware this year, McAfee Labs has increased this prediction to 75 million unique malware samples reached by year’s end, the busiest in malware history."
