According to a recent G Data study, malware for smartphones and tablets was up by 273 percent in the first half of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010.
"In the first half of 2011, researchers recorded one new malware strain every twelve seconds on average," writes Computer Weekly's Warwick Ashford. "G Data believes there is no end in sight to this malware flood."
"As smartphones and tablets with an Android operating system become ever more popular, cyber criminals are increasingly relying on mobile devices for spreading malware code," Ashford writes.
