Bit9 has announced the results of its 2010 What's Running on Your Users' Desktops? survey, which found that only 32 percent of respondents (down from 34 percent in 2009) were confident that their businesses would be protected from harm caused by unauthorized or malicious software.

"The results from our survey once again underscore the need for companies to adopt a more proactive approach to endpoint security to prevent unauthorized software from being downloaded and running in their organizations," says company chief strategy officer Tom Murphy.
