Oxford University researchers have developed a method of making secure payments via mobile phones.
"The technology provides a secure channel that its inventors hope will be rolled into smartphone mobile banking or other payment applications," writes DarkReading's Kelly Jackson Higgins.
"The protocol lets the payer conduct transactions via Bluetooth, WiFi, the Internet, SMS messaging, or on a landline phone," Higgins writes. "It could be used for shopping or dining out, as well, offering an alternative to writing a check, for instance."
