The European Parliament has voted to block the U.S. from accessing SWIFT banking data.
"Despite intensive U.S. lobbying the motion to block was approved with 378 votes in favor, 196 against and 31 abstentions," according to The H Security.
"Today's veto was due to concerns over civil rights and privacy," the article states. "Apparently the U.S. has always maintained that their use of the SWIFT data was entirely legal."
