A bug in the latest version of Google’s Chrome browser could leak the identity of a user trying to surf anonymously.

“The flaw means that domain-name queries are made by a user’s local network even when Chrome is configured to use a third-party proxy,” writes The Register’s Dan Goodin. “Users typically use proxies to conceal their local IP address in an attempt to browse anonymously.”

“It’s unclear when the hole might be patched,” Goodin writes.
