A Hungarian hacker who tried to blackmail Marriott into giving him a job after he stole data from its servers has been given a 30-month prison sentence.

"Attila Nemeth, 26, will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, federal prosecutors said in a statement Friday," writes Computerworld's Jaikumar Vijayan.

"Nemeth had previously pleaded guilty to charges of transmitting malicious code and attempted extortion, in U.S. District Court in Maryland," Vijayan writes.
